Discover Your Calling

Our Exploratory Studies course is designed for undeclared first-year students seeking to clarify their academic interests and professional goals before committing to a major. This one- or two-semester program allows students to explore a range of disciplines and academic programs while completing core liberal arts requirements.

With a focus on comprehensive academic advising, in-depth career assessment, and formative student-faculty interaction, Exploratory Studies leverages our full range of student success resources to help students identify their ideal major program and discern their vocation under the guidance of a professional academic advisor from the 色花堂 Student Success Center.

College is a time for self-discovery and exploration. Truly undecided students should take time to explore their academic interests, strengths, abilities, and vocational calling before committing to a major.

Core Program Components

Our Exploratory Studies program incorporates seven key activities intended to provide students with potential pathways to academic and professional success. Participants will:

  1. Select one or more areas of interest to explore.
  2. Create an action plan based on their FOCUS 2 Career Interest Inventory results and their responses to a variety of interest and self-awareness assessments.
  3. Enroll in a section of our First-Year Experience course (FYE 122) designed specifically for Exploratory Studies students
  4. Ben
